We connect Gibraltar directly to our core global MPLS backbone using high-capacity diverse connectivity out to our global peering and PoP locations. This means that in the event of a carrier cable failure, Continent 8 is resilient and able to continue to deliver services via separate carrier cable systems.
We peer IP with major Internet Exchanges and tier 1 providers in major cities to ensure we offer premium IP compared to our local competitors.
In Gibraltar, there are three diverse and separated routes Continent 8 use to connect the facility. Local providers in Gibraltar use only a single route and are at risk if the cable fails. To replicate Continent 8’s superior resiliency, significant investment and supplier management would be required.
In 2021, we responded to changing market conditions and the demand for innovation in infrastructure by Gibraltar businesses, with the launch of our Public Cloud solution.
In addition to our ISO 27001 certification, our data centre in Gibraltar has also obtained the PCI DSS v3.3 accreditation. This makes the Continent 8 facility the most connected, secure, resilient and certified facility in the jurisdiction.
